Elections 2024: Guard the peace of the country- IGP to Ghanaians

The Inspector General of Police of Ghana, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has made a clarion call to Ghanaians to jealously guard the peace and the unity of  the country as the nation gears up for the general election. 

He said the nation will continue to enjoy peace before, during and after the elections, therefore Ghanaians should not harbour any fear. 

Dr Akufo Dampare made these remarks when he paid a special visit to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Accra New Town Congregation to join in the celebration of the 70th Birthday Thanksgiving Service of the Minister In Charge, Rev. Michael Gabriel Anim-Tetey.

 Speaking on the upcoming elections, the IGP assured the congregation and Ghanaians at large that the Ghana Police Service has implemented robust security measures to safeguard the electoral process to ensure a peaceful environment for voting. 

He expressed confidence that, with God’s grace, the nation will experience yet another successful and smooth election process. He further emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Ghanaian community and law enforcement agencies, encouraging citizens to work closely with the Police to ensure safety and security for all. 

“This year is an election year and people normally harbour fears of what will happen during this period. I want to assure you all that God will continue to protect this nation. The security services stand in readiness to maintain law and order. Let us also do our part to protect this country”. During the service, Dr. Dampare extended his heartfelt congratulations to Rev. Anim-Tetey on reaching this significant milestone in his life and ministry. “The New Testament of your life has just begun…” he told the celebrant.

 In a sermon on the theme, ” A Journey of Gratitude, Faith and Service, a Former Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Herbert Anim- Oppong admonished Christians to focus on the ultimate, which is the journey to Heaven. “This theme, reminds us that we are on a journey here on Earth to Heaven and we must not forget that all of us are Heaven-bound. 

Let us aim to complete this tasked. Indeed, the whole journey in life begins with our faith in Jesus Christ and it has to be nurtured to grow, he added”.

The visit of the Inspector General of Police to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Accra New Town Congregation, further deepens the partnership between religious institutions and law enforcement agencies in promoting peace, security, and unity in the country.
