New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says she will ban all types of semi-automatic weapons used in the Christchurch attacks.
She said the country’s gun laws have been in the spotlight since a gunman killed 50 people at two mosques last Friday.
According to her, the new legislation is expected to be in place by April 11 and amnesty would be imposed so the owners of affected weapons could hand them in, along with a buy-back scheme.
The Prime Minister said they are announcing a ban on all military-style semi-automatics and assault rifles in New Zealand six days after the attack.
