Tanzania’s south-western city of Mbeya’s Councilors says the country is running out of condoms.
The issue was reportedly raised at a meeting of Mbeya City Council yesterday with the gathering being told there had been a shortage in bars and other places of entertainment for about four months.
Fears were expressed that this could lead to a rise in HIV infections.
A health official, Dr. Jonas Lulandala, who agreed distribution had been a problem in February and March reassured the Councilors that the issue has been resolved and condoms will soon be available again.
