Concerns have been raised by a lot of people as to why artistes lose their social media accounts, which have huge numbers of followers, after they part ways with their record labels.

One person who has added her voice to the conversation is entertainment commentator Sally Frimpong-Mann.

In an interview with Hagar Owusu on GTV’s ‘Spectacle show’, Sally Mann, who referred to Michael Jackson as an example, stated that Malcolm Nuna, a Ghanaian musician, had every right to leave his record label after gaining popularity and must not be blamed for anything.

She questioned, “What’s up with this you are leaving the label, so I am taking your social media accounts from you? Have you taken away the artiste’s talent?”

Furthermore, she said, “The fact that you can’t take the talent from the person is enough proof that they can always bounce back, and so why can’t there be a negotiation between the artistes and record label instead to get a percentage given to both parties while the artist keeps the account instead?”

“Many musicians in Ghana, like Joyce Blessing, amongst others, have suffered the faith of having their social media accounts taken away but have been able to get back on their feet. The latest addition is Malcolm Nuna, and we hope that he can be able to get back on his feet with time.”
