Police in Ashanti say they are following leads in their investigations into the shooting incident at Amakom. GBC’s Radio Ghana sources indicate that some prominent NDC functionaries are assisting in the investigation.

Yesterday, the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) had to ensure peace and security at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi when some youth went there to demand the release of the body of the victim in the shooting incident.

The source said as part of police investigation, certain protocols had to be followed by the Pathologist conducting the post mortem on the body. The body is expected to be released to the bereaved family today after the pathologists complete their autopsy.

Thirty-year old Wassiu Iddris suffered multiple gunshot wounds on Monday during a misunderstanding at the premises of the NDC’s Regional office at Amakom and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital last Monday.

Meanwhile, the other victim identified as Abdul Issah, who sustained gunshot wounds in the thigh, is said to be in a stable condition.
