The Minister of Works and Housing, Samuel Attah Akyea, says the Ghana’s coastline is under threat because of climate change and the nature of tidal waves.

Taking his turn at the ‘Meet-The-Press’ series in Accra, the Minister said it is the responsibility of government to protect the coastline to avert any calamities as well as safeguard lives  and properties.

He said that his Ministry has started some sea defense projects to avert sea erosion.

The Minister said it has become necessary as a country to have a national Hydrology Authority. Such an Authority will have the responsibility to develop comprehensive solutions to mitigate the effect of flooding and protection of the coastline.
