After a successful launch of the popular McDan Entrepreneurship Challenge Season Two in Accra, Business mogul and Executive Chairman of the McDan Group of Companies, Dr Daniel Mckorley has expressed satisfaction on the progress made by the previous winners of prize in the maiden edition of the McDan Entrepreneurship Challenge.

McDan Foundation, is investing over $100,000 to support young and talented enterprising people to create jobs, deepen entrepreneurship culture and produce more successful entrepreneurs (millionaires) in the country and in the world.

Winner of Season One

According to him, he was particularly happy about the successes chalked by the ultimate winner of season one who is now the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Alkoh Shea Butter company, Alhassan Hamza Akoligo for setting up a factory which can now give employment to a lot of unemployed youth from the northern region.

“Well I will say the first season’s prize winners exploits have exceeded my expectations, because I can see the drive in the contestants and I can also see hunger in them and so I can see that this is the next world, if Ghana or the corporate world should support what the challenge stands for by impacting into the society, I believe there is no challenge in the whole wide world like this one, for instance Trump is doing some called the Apprentice. He is looking for prodigy and they have one also called the Dragons Den, looking for investors into their businesses. There are many out there, but this is a unique challenge. We, are investing into people and we have customized it to meet our environmental standard looking at the story of the Alkoh Shea Butter company, this is a typical story of this challenge”, He said.

Some selected TV stations across the country will be showing the event live over a 13 – week period which will give opportunity to the general public to watch and learn from it as 15,000 applicants were prune down to 80 for the final show down.

The grand occasion was graced by some notable entrepreneurs and business men and women, amongst them were, United Kingdom’s (UK) High Commissioner to Ghana, Ian Walker and CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Yofi Grant, Executive Secretary at the Office of the Vice President, Augustine Blay and members of the panel of jury, Dzigbordi Dosoo, Simon R Turner and Percy Amoo-Yanky among others.
