The Ghana Statistical Service says it has covered almost half of the expected households in the ongoing Population and Housing Census.

These are from data received from 99.2% of the enumeration areas in the 16 regions and 272 statistical districts.

Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim told the news, that the exercise has been smooth within the first seven days of its implementation.

He said the seamless transition from listing to enumeration has helped the smooth process of the exercise.

Professor Annim said challenges encountered so far were all anticipated, including the inability to meet respondents during the daytime due to people leaving early for work and returning late in urban areas, and in rural communities people going to their farms and returning late.
