Temporary structures earmarked for the resettlement of the Appiatse explosion victims are 98% complete for relocation on the 4th of May, 2022.

The Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu-Bio, who made this known, said citizens are to start moving into the 32 completed rooms, while work on the other 2% are being continued for the official relocation, explaining that the 1st May relocation date has been rescheduled for 4th May, 2022 to make way for the holiday festivities.

Addressing the media on his last inspection visit to Appiatse, Mr. Owusu-Bio said the bid for contractors to win to design and rebuild Appiatse begins today. 

The Ministry of Roads, he said, has also promised to commence layouts of the road networks for the new Appiatse Community and gave assurance that  it will be done simultaneously with the bidding process.

Mr. Owusu-Bio who is also Chairman of the Appiatse Reconstruction Committee expressed excitement having been able to meet the May completion deadline promised by the government.

This, he said, will enable his team  to focus on the main reconstruction.
