President Akufo-Addo has disclosed that Cabinet has granted approval for the establishment of a National Flag Carrier, Home Based Airline with a strategic partner participation.

The Kotoka International airport has been renovated and expanded to include a new terminal following its potential for air passenger traffic growth.

The country’s location gives it a strategic advantage as a regional air hub for West Africa.

The most recent state carrier, Ghana International Airlines collapsed in 2010 after government’s withdrawal of funding.

Presenting the State of the Nation Address, President Akufo-Addo, however, said the House will be updated soon on developments so far.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo says the construction of the second and third phase of the Kumasi Airport and some other airports in the northern sector are all progressing steadily.
