Members of the Minority have applauded the government for listening to calls not to remove the threshold of the Electronic Transfer Levy, E-Levy.

The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, announced a proposal in the 2023 budget statement to reduce the e-levy rate from one point five percent to one percent. However, he said the government intended to remove the one hundred Ghana cedi threshold on all daily transactions. However, as the house worked on the Amendment to the Electronic Transfer Levy Bill 2022, it came out that the Government has decided to maintain the daily threshold.

Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin said the government has always kept faith with the people by abolishing some taxes in the past but it is necessary for it to bring up such levies to sustain the economy.

Ranking member on the Finance committee, Dr. Casiel Ato Forson, said the ministry has shown that they are listening to constructive criticism.

Deputy Minority Leader, James Klutse Avedzi, also praised the government for not waning interest in the electronic economy by maintaining the e-levy threshold.
