Three civilians have been confirmed dead following an attack on a Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) escort convoy at Binduri in the Upper East Region.
According to a statement issued by the GAF Public Relations Department in Accra, the incident occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026, when unknown gunmen opened fire on a convoy transporting about 140 civilians from Bawku to Bolgatanga.
The military, however, repelled the attack after an exchange of gunfire with the assailants. Seven of the attackers were killed in the process.
One civilian sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.
In a follow-up operation, security personnel pursued the attackers and retrieved a G3 rifle, two loaded magazines, and additional rounds of ammunition from a suspect who attempted to flee to a nearby mosque.
Ten suspects have since been arrested and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
The Ghana Armed Forces has cautioned the public against interfering with military operations and urged full cooperation with security agencies.
The statement also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The situation in the area is reported to be under control as security operations continue.
