GBC’s Barbara Gaisie honored for 30 years of Seasoned News Casting

The Ghana Journalists Association, GJA has recognised Mrs. Barbara Gaisie for 30 plus years of News casting with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.
At its 23rd Awards Ceremony at the Gold Coast Kempinski Hotel in Accra, a Past President of the GJA, Mrs. Gifty Afenyi Dadzie presented the award in a citation part of which read; ”for your consistency and commitment to broadcasting in Ghana”.
Barbara Gaisie started as a guest artiste in 1987 and gained employment with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in 1989. In 1994 she was transferred to the newsroom where she is currently Head of Television News.
Barbara has had stints with International Broadcasting Houses; including CNN and MNET in South Africa.
She represented GBC as Duty Continuity Announcer on MNET in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1990 when MNET was being introduced to Ghana.
Barbara has participated in World Reporters Conference at CNN Centre in Atlanta and Washington DC. Barbara has also been a part time news presenter for Retebrescia, a multilingual TV station in Brescia, Italy.
She has also had courses in various Broadcasting and Communication spheres. She had a Distance Leaning Course in Investigative Journalism and Financial Reporting. A Voice of America (VOA) sponsored course in New Media Technology, News Directing and another VOA course for Chief Executive Officers(CEO’s)  in Zanzibar).
An ICT Course organised by UNESCO, and another in Training in Television Broadcasting Techniques in Beijing, China.
Mrs. Barbara Gaisie holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration, in Human Resource Management from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon. Bachelor of Science Degree(BSc) in Human Resource Management from the Ghana Institute of Public Administration(GIMPA), and a Diploma in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism(GIJ) and an Alumni of Wesley Girls High School, in Cape Coast.
Barbara takes her Christian Religion very seriously. She has been a member of the Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Kpehe in Accra for forty years, and a patron to five societies namely the Church Choir, SUWMA, Boys and Girls Brigade, the Guild and the Christ Little Band.
Barbara says she ”enjoys reading and singing the Methodist hymns”.
Interestingly she says her favourite food is ”roasted plantain and groundnuts or kelewele(traditional spiced and chopped fried plantain) with Coca Cola.
‘A good novel can occupy my time and attention any day,’ says Barbara.
