Former President John Kufuor says public and civil servants who distinguish themselves in their line of duty must be acknowledged and honoured to serve as encouragement to others.

He said persons who are fortunate enough to hold higher offices must work to elevate the state.

Former President Kufuor was speaking when a delegation led by Wassa Damang Abakoma Akyempimhene, Nana Ampasi Bene-Mireku, formally informed him of the final funeral rites of the late first Bereau of National Investigations, BNI Boss, and Wassa Damanghene, Nana Amoakwa, known in public life as Commissioner of Police COP retired J.B. Amofa.

The Akyempimhene, who is also Board Chairman of ARB APEX Bank, said the division found it prudent to inform former President Kufuor of the final funeral rites of the late chief because of the close working and personal relationship the two had during their active service to the nation.

COP JB Amofa, after retiring from the police service, worked under former President Kufuor in several capacities.

He died on June 5, 2023.
