The Director-General of GBC, Professor Amin Alhassan has reiterated calls for the payment of TV License fees to support the Corporation’s Public Service mandate. Professor Alhassan made the call when officials of the Ministry of Public Enterprises called on Management of the GBC to discuss issues of ‘’Efficiency of the Public Sector’’.

The Director General raised concern about the lack of support from successive governments ”resulting in the challenges hampering the smooth operation of the Corporation”.

Professor Amin Alhassan outlined some of the progress made by GBC in recent times. He noted that GBC has moved from a single Brand Identity to a Complex media brand with seven TV channels and eighteen Radio Stations nationwide.

For his part, the Minister of Public Enterprises, Joseph Cudjoe, said ”the Government is ready to support GBC to generate more revenue to support its programmes and efficiently play its role as the National Broadcaster”.
