The Regent of Bimbila, Nyelinbolgu Naa Yakubu Andani Dasana, has appealed to government, benevolent individuals and organisations to support the construction of a sports complex at Bimbila to help unearth talents of the youth in the area.

He noted that the entire Nanun Kingdom has no recreational center, leaving residents especially the youth to idle around especially during the off-farming season.

The Regent is concerned that, such idleness creates avenues for conflicts which has bedeviled the area in the past decade.

The construction of the sports complex, he observed, will help the youth to channel their energies into positive use.

The Regent of Bimbila made the appeal when the Ghana Chamber of Mines paid a courtesy call on him at his palace in Bimbila.

The visit formed part of the Chamber’s community outreach programs which has seen it support various institutions in the area including the Bimbila hospital. Two years ago, the Ghana Chamber of Mines supported the Bimbila hospital with some hospital equipment including an incubator and beds.

The Chamber recently supported the hospital again with protective equipment to aid in the fight against covid-19. The current visit to Bimbila is to assess how the hospital has used the equipment and to seek further areas assistance.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Sulemana Keney, stressed the need for the youth of Bimbila and the entire Eastern Corridor to prepare themselves in terms of knowledge and skills acquisition to take advantage of the opportunities in the mining sector.

He also called on individuals and organisations in the area to invest in the mining sector to enable them to tap into opportunities in the mining value chain.
