In the spirit of Easter, a private legal practitioner, Thaddeus Sory has extended a hand of support to the Saint Monica’s Widows Association at Daffiama in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District of the Upper West Region. The Easter package which is made up of 100 bags of rice, 50 cartons of oil, and 50 bags of sugar is valued at several thousands of Ghana Cedis.

The widows were full of gratitude during the presentation ceremony.

For the past 5 years, Mr. Thaddeus Sory who is the Managing Partner of Sory @ Law in Accra has made it his pastime to visit his home District during Easter to donate what he terms “a token” to widows for the occasion.

Founder of the Saint Monica’s Widows Association, Reverend Sister Gabriel Nonaah who took delivery of the items pointed out that there are 780 widows under the wings of the Association in 22 Communities in the Daffiama enclave and expressed appreciation to the benefactor for his intervention.

Making the presentation, Mr. Sory explained the motivation for his action.

He stated that: “it is usual for us to look outside to hear about people suffering but within our own area and among us, we also have people who are suffering. So once we come from this place, we always want to pray and hope that we all come together and support those who are with us here and also show them love and humanity”.

He continued, “during this time of the year, we all know what happens, the place is dried, we are looking forward to the rains and they are hoping that at least rain can come because there is not much food around”.

The Chaplain for the Widows Association, Rev. Fr. James Nasaalbeteryeb was also very thankful to lawyer Thaddeus Sory for reaching out to the woman and entreating public-spirited individuals and organizations to extend a hand of support to the Widows.

Mr. Thaddeus Sory’s critical support to the widows in Daffiama again this Easter, resonates with Albert Einstein’s perspective that “the value of a man resides in what he gives.”
