The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission says negotiations between the Commission and UTAG have been conclusive with the exception of the book and research allowances.

This has to do with the format with which the payment will be made. Speaking to GBC News, Head of Public Affairs of the Commission, Earl Ankrah, said the negotiations were productive and UTAG was satisfied as the two sides reached a compromise that got both parties happy.

Mr. Ankrah noted that the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic makes it difficult for the government when organisations make such demands. He said he hoped that UTAG will send a notification to their members to rescind their decision to go on strike as concerns on conditions of service and salaries have been addressed.
