Builsa Tradional Area celebrates Feok Festival

The Feok festival celebrated by the chiefs and people in the Builsa Traditional Area is an important annual festival by the people of Sandema and its environs, to commemorate the victory of the indigenous over slave raiders led by Babatu in the 18th century, and to good thank God for harvest.

Speaking at the climax of the Festival in Sandema, capital of the Builsa North District, the Paramount Chief of the Builsa Traditional Area, Naab Azaksuk Azantilow, commended government for the numerous social policy interventions, development projects and pledged the support of the traditional area for their success.

The Paramount Chief urged his people to make conscious effort to eradicate negative behaviors such as Bush burning, illegal felling of trees, teenage pregnancies, in order to achieve sustainable development as a district.He called on government to as a matter of urgency to establish a cement factory in the region.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, James Agalga, called on government to hasten efforts in the construction of the Navrongo–Chuchuliga–Sandema road to further open up the area for development.

He also appealed for the extension of the rural electrification project to all communities to boost business activities.Speaking on the theme, “Celebrating and Consolidating the Achievements of our Great Father’s”, the Builsa North District Chief Executive, David Amoabil Afoko, called on sons and daughters of the builsa traditional area to inculcate in themselves selflessness to sustain development for generations unborn.

He said President Akufo Addo led administration will continue to pursue innovative and result-oriented programmes to bring improvement to every sector of the district and economy.
