The Ministry of Education Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to skills development as a key driver of national transformation at the Ghana TVET Excellence Awards 2026, held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, the Deputy Minister, Clement Apaak, said Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has become a central pillar in Ghana’s pursuit of industrialisation, job creation and inclusive economic growth.

He noted that ongoing reforms in the sector are focused on competency-based training, strengthening partnerships with industry players, and equipping learners with practical, demand-driven skills aligned with the needs of the modern economy.

Dr Apaak also disclosed that the government is taking steps to establish a dedicated TVET Fund to support infrastructure development, enhance training delivery and improve access to technical education across the country. He added that a comprehensive National TVET Policy is awaiting Cabinet approval and is expected to provide a clear roadmap for the sector’s transformation.

The awards brought together policymakers, industry leaders, development partners and trainees, providing a platform to recognise outstanding achievements and promote high standards within Ghana’s growing TVET ecosystem.

The event highlighted a renewed national focus on equipping young people with employable skills, positioning TVET as a key driver of sustainable development.
