Government says it is engaging leadership of the Universities Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), to find an amicable solution to their grievances and get them back to the Lecture Halls.

Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum who made this known at a media briefing in Accra said members of UTAG are in their third week of an industrial action which the National Labour Commission describes as ”illegal”.

The lecturers are pushing for better conditions of service saying their demands are fair. However, Dr. Osei Adutwum hinted that ”the issue will be resolved soon”.

“We know that unfortunately, University lecturers are on strike but we’d continue to engage them as to how best we can get them back. As a Minister for Education, I’ve said that I am the chief advocate for Teachers and Professors. When we find ourselves in this space, I do everything possible, formally and informally, front door and back door to make sure that we come to some resolution,” according to the Education Minister.
