The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Rev. Fr. Professor Anthony Afful-Broni, has warned that newly admitted students who attend matriculation ceremonies for regular students at the four university campuses late, will be walked out.

He said in addition to that, the university would dismiss such students who were unable to take part in future matriculation ceremonies, saying, ‘’if you are unable to matriculate, then you are not a student and so you will be dismissed to go back home’’.

He also stated that the university would not refund the fees of such students and whoever felt aggrieved could proceed to the highest court of the land for redress, adding that he would meet such students in court since he was very familiar with the judicial system.

Addressing the first session of the 2018/2019 academic year’s matriculation ceremony for regular students at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Hall in Winneba last Friday, Rev. Fr. Professor Afful-Broni, who did not mince words in condemning the attitude of some fresh students who reported to the venue late for the ceremony, said he was deeply disappointed and appalled about the unexplainable lateness of some of the fresh students to the matriculation ceremony, saying “it is totally unacceptable for the VC’s procession to robe and wait for them though they were supposed to be seated before they arrived at the auditorium”.

He said the ceremony was an occasion that would pave the way for them to call themselves students of the university, saying, “This is your last warning from me and to demonstrate my commitment to time consciousness, I am going to set some examples.”

In an address, the Registrar of the university, Mr Paul Osei-Barima, who administered the matriculation oath, advised the students to work hard to uphold and promote the image of the UEW and also contribute to the growth of the nation.
