New VC & Registrar for UESD with vision to establish STEM Center

The Deputy Minister of Education, Rev Ntim Fordjour has observed that the recent global challenges regarding climate change have necessitated the importance of sustaining the University of Energy and Sustainable Development, UESD.

Thus, he called on the University to strategically position itself by championing the frontline role in climate actions through Research and innovations that will help find lasting solutions to climate-induced problems such as floods facing the globe.

Rev. Fordjour who was speaking on behalf of the President at the Induction and Investiture ceremony of the Registrar, Mary Abena Agyepong and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eric Nyarko-Sampson, noted that solutions to these global challenges will ensure that the world becomes a habitable place for humanity further.

He assured the University that its proposal seeking government support to establish the University as a STEM Center will receive rapid attention since it is in line with the government’s policies of expanding and promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The newly inducted Vice-Chancellor of the University, Eric Nyarko-Sampson disclosed that the University has collaborated with GIZ to undertake sessions on climate change and careers for the students to enable them to become agents of change in their various Communities.

In a bid to digitize teaching and learning in the University, Professor Nyarko-Sampson revealed that the learning management systems will be introduced at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

He noted that the University will continue to collaborate with other research institutions locally and internationally.

The Council Chairman of the University, Professor Jonathan Narh Ayertey in outlining challenges of the University called for urgent assistance to propel academic work.
