Panalists on GBC’s Current Affairs programme, ‘Talking Point’, have commended Nigeria for the relatively peaceful manner it conducted its elections. They have however raised questions about the credibility of the results following a four million gap by incumbent Muhamadu Buhari despite the low turnout.

Last week, President Buhari was reelected President of the oil rich nation for another 4 year term after beating his main contender Atiku Abubakar.

Mr Abubakar has rejected the results and is heading to court to challenge them.

Speaking on ‘Talking Point’, Deputy Executive Director of CDD Ghana, Dr Franklin Oduro said he is not surprised the results are being challenged as he has always suspected there is something wrong with the register.

A Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies Accra, UPSA, Fred Awaah said the existence of social media meant Nigerians and the rest of the continent do not have to rely on Western Media to determine the credibility of the polls.

For his part a Nigerian resident in Ghana, Paul  Soko said he expected President Buhari to win because he was the better candidate of the lot.

He questioned the genuineness of videos circulating on social media indicating multiple voting.
