EC to organize engagement for political parties ahead of Assin North by-election

The Electoral Commission will soon organize a stakeholder engagement for Political Parties before the Assin North by-election slated for June 27, 2023.

The Director of Electoral Services at Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Serebour Quaicoe who made this known, said processes are far advanced for the conduct of the Assin North. Four parliamentary candidates have filed their nomination forms to contest the race.

Balloting has also concluded with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Charles Opoku picking the first slot. 

On security, he confirmed that eight hundred Police Officers are set to be deployed to forestall violence, before, during, and after the upcoming Assin North by-election. 

According to Dr. Quaicoe, the Police have given the assurance that there would be adequate security on the ground to allow for a smooth process. 

”…Arrangement was to ensure that no one lost a strip of their hair due to the election”, Dr. Quaicoe noted.

Besides, various stakeholders are being conscientize to ensure that no individual violates election laws and principles.
