The Energy Expert and Head of Political Affairs of the Convention Peoples Party, kwame Jantuah has suggested that, the name ‘Kotoka International Airport ‘ should be changed to ‘ Paa Grant International Airport ‘.

Speaking on the GTV Breakfast Show Headlines Segment, Kwame Jantuah rhetorically asked that how can the Nations’ Airport be named after a Coup maker?

“How can you name the entry into a country after a Coup maker?”, he asked.

He however proposed that, the Airport should be named after Paa Grant.

“Paa Grant Airport. Paa Grant was that individual who in as much as he was with UGCC, realized that the Union of the two was very important”, he added.

The Founder and President of the World-Wide Miracle Outreach Church, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh on the other hand said the Airport should not be named after any person.

“Not important.  I don’t want our airport to be named after anybody”, he noted.

He then suggested the Kotoka International Airport to be named as the ‘ Accra International Airport’.

“Without playing the tribal colours, sometimes we feel like everything in Accra should not be in its name. That is not in the best order so Accra International Airport”, he implied.

George Alfred Grant popularly known as Paa Grant was a Merchant and Politician in the Gold Coast. He was referred to as the Father of Gold Coast politics.  Paa Grant was the Founder and the first President of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) in 1947.
