The Minister-designate for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Lariba Zuweira Abudu says the Gender Ministry is working to ensure that challenges with Government’s flagship program — the School Feeding Programme (SFP), are addressed.

During her vetting in Parliament, Madam Lariba Zuweira Abudu said the School Feeding Programme is an important initiative and all efforts must be put in place to ensure that it succeeds.

The Minister-designate said the Ministry has partnered with the Office of the Vice President to enroll all beneficiaries, schools, and stakeholders on a digitized platform to help remove the hurdles confronting the SFP.

“If I am given the nod, School Feeding as you all know there are challenges, but I want to assure the Committee that, already in the Ministry, we have taken steps to address some of the challenges. The Ministry in collaboration with the Vice President’s Office is doing digitization. We are enrolling all schools on a digitized platform and all caterers and beneficiaries. This alone is going to reduce all the hurdles” Madam Zuweira Abudu said.

She was answering a question posed by the Greater Accra Regional Minister when she appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament Thursday, December 15, 2022, in a Vetting as Substantive Minister for the Gender, Children, and Social Protection Ministry.

President Akufo-Addo had nominated two Members of Parliament to take up roles at the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

The nominations came after the President revoked the appointment of Sarah Adwoa Safo, who has been absent from work for an extended period.
