The New Patriotic Party, NPP, has congratulated the MP-elect James Gyakye Quayson and the NDC on their victory in the just-ended Assin North by-election.

The Party also expressed its gratitude to all who contributed to the Party’s preparations towards the election thus, commending President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as well as the hierarchy of the Party for their ”unwavering dedication, commitment and overwhelming support”.

A statement signed by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, further lauded all Ministers, MPs, Chief Executives, MMDCEs for their diverse contributions.

It noted though the Party had worked diligently to reclaim the Assin North Parliamentary seat, the decision and judgement by the people of the Constituency is very much respected as the victory of the opposition NDC adds to the democratic credentials of the country.

The statement adds that the ”recent two by-elections (Kumawu and Assin North) have demonstrated the strength of the country’s democracy”. It also commended the security services for their ”joint efforts during and after the elections, and the Electoral Commission for ensuring a successful election”.

The Party further ”commended the media for working tirelessly and responsibly to provide up-to-date feedback on the election”.

The NPP however reiterated its unwavering commitment to collaborate with other political parties, key electoral stakeholders and Ghanaians to enhance the practice of democracy in Ghana.

The Party says ”the outcome of the Assin North Constituency by-election is a wake-up call to evaluate, make rational retrospective assessments and conduct thorough analysis”. It therefore urged dedicated Party supporters to ”submit their comments and recommendations to the National Secretariat for consideration and possible implementation”.
