Mamelodi Sundowns have claimed their second CAF Champions League title by winning the final 2–1 on aggregate over Morocco’s AS FAR. A 1–1 draw in the second leg in Rabat was enough for the South Africans, who carried a 1–0 lead from their first‑leg victory in Pretoria

AS FAR equalised on aggregate just before half‑time in Rabat when Mohamed Hrimat converted a penalty after Divine Lunga was adjudged to have foul Reda Slim.

Sundowns immediately hit back in first‑half stoppage time: Teboho Mokoena cracked in a spectacular half‑volley off the underside of the crossbar, restoring their aggregate lead and putting the Moroccan side under huge pressure.

In the 77th minute, AS FAR earned a second penalty via VAR, but Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams saved Hrimat’s spot‑kick, becoming the match‑winning hero. The hosts pushed hard in the final stages and eight minutes of added time, but could not breach Sundowns’ defence.

The victory marks Sundowns’ first African title since 2016 and their second CAF Champions League triumph overall, cementing their status as one of the continent’s elite clubs.

The win also brings Sundowns a record $6 million in prize money and qualification for the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup.

For AS FAR, it was a heartbreaking end to a standout campaign; they were aiming for their first Champions League crown since 1985 but fell just short of continental glory.
