AFCON 2023: Fans expectation ahead of Ghana’s opening game against Cape Verde

The Black Stars of Ghana opens their AFCON campaign against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan. The match will kick off on Sunday 14th January 2024 at 8pm.

Following the big game at Abidjan, football fans in Ghana expressed their optimism and hope on what they expect from the Black Stars heading into this crucial encounter with the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde. Handful of the fan base in Accra shared some mixed feelings as they believe the opening game is going to be a tough one to crack.

Some football fans believe that, Black Stars falls short when it comes to building team strength and chemistry. Most of them argued that, it’s high time the team finds a solution to this issue before they even begin their AFCON Journey.

“The Black stars we have don’t look like a unit to me, they play just for playing sake and everybody wants to play their own football just to make it. Personally, I think Dede Ayew should be dropped in our game against Cape Verde. Dede Ayew is going to be a death weight in the team”; said Listowel Hammond( A Ghanaian supporter).

As some fans continue to pour their support on the team, the Black Stars are expected to put up a strong performance to much the support of Ghanaians to win their hearts.

Evan Quartey, a supporter of the Black Stars expressed his dissatisfaction on the team not being decisive enough when it comes to putting the ball in the net.

He mentioned that, it’s high time the Black Stars concentrate on developing the frontline, so they can be able to create chances for the target man as this is the only way they can beat Cape Verde moving forward.

The team should keep this one key asset in their arsenal which is teamwork. The only way the Black stars can convince Ghanaians is to play as a team and not to be individualistic when it comes to creating chances and getting the team moving. Black Stars supporter, David Lartey mentioned.

The Black Stars will begin their AFCON campaign against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in a huge group B encounter tonight, 14th January, 2024 in their quest to make history in the AFCON tournament.
