Ghanaian Actress Fella Makafui has officially announced the end of her four-year marriage to musician Medikal.
The confirmation comes in the wake of Medikal’s recent public statement declaring their separation.
In a statement dated May 18, 2024, and signed by Makafui, she revealed that the decision to part ways was made several months ago. They had been waiting for their families to complete the necessary customary divorce rites.
Addressing the public, Makafui responded to various claims made by Medikal on social media, which she said had significantly harmed her reputation. “These public statements, considerable parts of which are a great departure from the truth, have caused significant hurt to me, my family, and to my business,” she stated.
Despite the public nature of the allegations, Makafui emphasized her decision to handle the matter privately and lawfully. “I have decided to resort to only lawful and appropriate forums to address my grievances,” she said, citing respect for both families, the need for privacy in marital matters, and the best interests of their daughter.
Looking ahead, Makafui expressed her intention to pursue legal action, though reluctantly. She believes this approach will ensure the safety and well-being of both her and her daughter, as well as properly regulate co-parenting duties in accordance with the law.
Makafui thanked her fans for their support and requested privacy during this difficult time. “I plead for privacy, stressing that I require it due to the nature of the situation,” she concluded.
