Renal Dialysis Unit at Korle-Bu still closed despite intense pressure for it to be re-opened

The Out Patients Department (OPD) of the Renal Dialysis Unit at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has been closed to patients since May this year.

The closure of the facility according to patients is affecting their health and many losing their lives as they are unable to afford services of private facility due to exorbitant charges.

Speaking to GBCNEWS, Spokesperson of Patients with End Stage Renal Disease, Kojo Ahenkorah, called on relevant authorities to urgently intervene in the matter.

He said they are unable to get quality services which is leading to death of many patients with the condition.

Touching on government’s plans to subsidize dialysis treatment, Mr. Ahenkorah, while applauding the move said it must be given priority.
