Gov’t announces stimulus package of $600,000,000 for Cocoa sector

The Cocoa Sector is to receive a major boost in production with the injection of six hundred million dollars.

The stimulus package, which is through a ‘Cocoa Productivity Enhancement programme’ will among other things shore-up Ghana`s production to one point five million tonnes by 2027.

Speaking at a media briefing at Peduase in the Eastern Region, the CEO of COCOBOD, Joseph Boahen Aidoo said the facility, which is yet to receive Parliamentary approval will target rehabilitation of cocoa plantations, improvement in storage and domestic processing among other initiatives for a period of seven years.
