The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), says it is going to descend heavily on defaulters who failed to honour their tax obligations despite the tax amnesty period offered them
The Commissioner General of the GRA, Emmanuel Kofi Nti, who disclosed this in a media encounter said the Authority will bite harder by naming and shaming defaulters among other punitive actions.
“The days of impunity about not complying with the tax rules are over, GRA will henceforth go after tax invaders with the full application of the tax law. Especially the grace period granted through the tax amnesty having expired on the 31st of August 2018.” He added.
According to the Commissioner the GRA has also engaged the services of an international Consultancy firm, McKenzie Group to help the authority undertake initiatives including the training of staff to improve revenue collection.”
Mr. Kofi Nti noted that although revenue targets were missed as at the end of August 31, 2018 by about 1.6 billion Ghana cedis, the Authority seeks to reverse it by the end of the year (2018).
He entreated the media to partner the GRA to disseminate information to the public.
