Defence lawyers in the case involving some 14 persons standing trial for the death of the late Major Maxwell Adams Mahama have accused Specialist Pathologist Dr. Lawrence Edusei, who conducted the autopsy report on the military officer, of lying to the court.

The pathologist from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, who is the 13th Prosecution Witness, in his evidence in chief earlier told the court that late Mahama died of multiple head injuries.

One of the lawyers for the defence, Theophilus Donkor accused Dr Edusei of not conducting an independent report and therefore misleading the court.

He said Dr Edusei’s meeting with the investigator in charge of the case to watch the video of the scene of the incident, influenced his report. But the pathologist in his response said the meeting came on after he had released his findings.

He added that watching of the video did not change his earlier findings. The case has been adjourned for the continuation of cross examination.
