The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of the Ghana National Fire Service, Mr Edwin Ekow Blankson, has called on Ghanaians to take fire education programmes very serious for the sake of their families, dependences and children.

He said this in a New Year message to Ghanaians, adding that, coupled with the onset of Hamattan Season, lots of fire outbreaks would be happing in our villages, homes, office and the public places because of the peak period. He said consumable materials like papers, naked wires and gas are all at risk to fire outbreak, because they are dry and flammable.

“We all need to protect ourselves than any other else at this dry season and let us take the wisdom of the rats, they are so smart before they enter any hole, they have their exit in case of any fire they can escape it.”

He said, he is now happy that Ghanaians are now taking the fire Education Programmes very serious than before. He added that the fire Education Programmes have now increased to 6% of its awareness.

For his part, the Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) of the Greater Accra Region, Mr James Emmanuel Quanor, called for more Fire Education Programmes in order to transform the Ghana National Fire Service.
