307 Ambulances to be deployed to 275 constituencies tomorrow

Government will from tomorrow deploy more than 300 Ambulances, 300 Emergency Medical Technicians, Drivers, support staff as well as 30 Dispatch riders to 275 constituencies across the country.

This is part of efforts to give a major boost to emergency healthcare services in the country.

The Ambulances were procured under the government Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme currently being implemented by the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives.

The Ambulances were initially due for inauguration on January 6, 2020, but was postponed to January 28, to allow for the training of Emergency Medical Technicians and the arrival of other vehicles.

Addressing a news conference in Accra, Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said the procurement of the Ambulances will create jobs for more than a thousand young people.

The inauguration of the Ambulances will be done by President Akufo-Addo.

This follows the completion of the training of paramedics and fitting of tracking devices. Trainers of the 50 Paramedics were drawn from all the regions across the country.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah, said government expects the Ambulance Service to maintain this investment to ensure longevity.
