Ghana bans handshaking and hugging to prevent possible Coronavirus outbreak

The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, says traditional handshaking must cease with immediate effect.

According to him, the directive is part of new measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus into the country.

Speaking to Journalists in Accra, Mr Agyemang Manu said in terms of surveillance, the Ministry has inducted and circulated Covid-19 case definitions to regional and lower levels adding that the national rapid response team has also been activated.

The national-level training for rapid response teams and local health workers on severe respiratory illnesses has been done.

The Health Minister outlines new measures in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus into the country.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo Wednesday, March 4 toured some entry points, where he applauded measures adopted by Health authorities to combat the coronavirus.
