Government has officially outdoored the QR Code and the Proxy Pay System to enhance electronic payment in the country.
Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia who launched these products in Accra, said the products have come at a time when Ghana and the world are battling COVID-19.
He said it is time for all to resort to the use of electronic payment channels and reduce the use of physical cash as it is also a means of contracting the disease.
Vice President Bawumia described the QR Code as a game changer in the financial landscape, and said the goal is to make a secure, convenient and low-cost financial service available to the vast majority of people.
