Eight health centres in the Greater Accra region have benefited from the benevolence of the Zongo Development Fund. The gesture is intended to help these facilities to sustain protocols adopted against COVID-19.

The fund which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Inner Cities and Zongo Development is to augment government’s effort in fighting the pandemic.

The beneficiary health centres are Maamobi General Hospital, Hajia Damata Clinic, Nima government clinic and Salvation Urban Aid Clinic. Tema and Ashaiman Polyclinics among others are the other beneficiaries.

The Deputy CEO of Zongo Development Fund in charge of Finance and Administration, Hajia Aisha Salifu, lamented the low level of Covid-19 education in Zongo communities.

She said this state of affairs is giving rise to disregard to safety protocols.  Hajia Salifu also identified stigmatisation as a major setback in fighting the pandemic.

The Municipal Health Director for Ayawaso Central, Mrs Mariam Amponsah-Achiano who received the items on behalf of the health facilities was grateful for the gesture. She also called on the public to observe all safety protocols.

The items donated included boxes of hand sanitisers, liquid soap and face masks.
