President Akufo-Addo says Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives must be the game changers in the Districts and encourage people especially the youth to stay and contribute to development rather than migrating to the capital.
Speaking at an orientation and capacity building for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, in Accra, President Akufo-Addo asked them to find innovative ways to improve their Internally Generated Funds so that recycling plants can be established in all the districts to help address the challenge with sanitation. He also added that government’s success in office will hinge on the ability of MMDCES to project and implement government’s flagship programs.
The Minister of Local Development and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama in a remark commended the MMDCEs for reducing irregularities in the utilisation of the District Assemblies Common Fund by forty- one percent in the 2017 financial year.
