President Akufo-Addo has expressed shock over the murder of the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Ekow Kwansa Hayford, by suspected armed robbers in the early hours of Friday.
In a post on Facebook, the President said it is a sad day for Mfantseman and for Mother Ghana.
President Akufo-Addo recalled recent encounter with the MP on 30th June, this year, when he inaugurated a water supply project at Anomansa, in his constituency.
The statement said by all accounts, the late MP was very much appreciated and loved by his constituents.
He called on the police to bring the perpetrators of this gruesome, cruel act to book as soon as possible.
The President expressed his deepest condolences to the family, to the Mfantseman constituency, to the New Patriotic Party, and to Parliament.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
