Yellow fever mass vaccination starts today throughout the country

The Ghana Health Service, is starting a six day Preventive Mass Yellow Fever Vaccination from today 12th to18th November 2020, across the country.

The Campaign is targeted at person’s aged between 10 to 60 years, except pregnant women, persons with immune deficiency problem, and those on anti-cancer or steroid treatment. Yellow fever is an acute hemorrhagic disease transmitted by an infected mosquito.

A statement by the Ghana Health Service, says the vaccine is safe and effective.

Greater Accra is vaccinating eligible persons within the age bracket in five out of 85 Districts in Ada West and East, La Dade-Kotopon, Ga Central and Kpone Katamanso.

The statement said the vaccination will be conducted at fixed immunization posts which are located in health facilities and other areas.

In addition, mobile teams will move to communities where they may be located at schools, churches, mosques, and market areas to vaccinate people.

The statement urges all persons to visit the nearest health center or vaccination posts to be attended to.
