Fire has gutted about one hundred shops in a commercial building at the Aboabo Station in Kumasi.
Ashanti Regional PRO of the Ghana National Fire Service, Desmond Ackah said Personnel are making frantic efforts to fight the fire which started before mid-day when most of the shops in the building were closed.
He said five fire tenders were dispatched to the scene from different fire stations within the Kumasi Metropolis to help douse the flames.
Mr. Ackah said a welder who is suspected to have started the fire after being contracted by one of the shop owners to work on his shop has fled; however, But efforts will be made to arrest him to assist with investigations to unravel the cause of the fire.
