The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has asked Government to as a matter of urgency, restrict social activities such as parties, church services, funerals, clubs and other social gatherings in the wake of the upsurge in COVID-19 cases.
Furthermore, they want markets to be regulated whiles adequate distribution of PPE to all health workers in the various health institutions are implemented.
In a statement issued and signed by the President, Dr. Frank Ankobea and General Secretary of the Association, Dr. Justice Yankson, they also requested that the number of people attending the state funeral for the late former President Jerry John Rawlings be restricted.
The pandemic, they say, has the potential of weakening the already fragile health systems and if not checked will eventually escalate the spread of the disease.
