The Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG), is suggesting the reopening of schools be staggered in order for tertiary institutions to contain the large number of Senior High School (SHS) graduates expected to enter universities.

The Association says the reopening could be done in batches in order not to put staff of the universities and students at risk and also to ensure that facilities in the schools can be enough to support the large number of students.

According to sources within government, the 2021/22 academic year is expected to commence in the next few weeks.

This came out after President Akufo-Addo met with Parliament’s Committee on Education to examine the proposals for assuring the safety of children when the schools reopen.
