The Upper East Regional Mental Health Coordinator, Edem Quarshie has stressed the need for policy makers and implementers to bring out interventions to cushion individuals who have lost their source of  livelihood as a result of the impact of COVID-19 to boost their psychological health.

Speaking to GBC News, he observed the 2008 economic recession experienced in the United Kingdom had a toll on the mental health of citizens as some developed post traumatic disorder, anxiety disorder and depression.

He further discouraged the practice of stigmatizing persons exhibiting mental disorders, arguing that faced with the new reality, there is a likelihood of a surge in the number of people with mental health issues.
