A rainstorm in Chamba and surrounding communities in the Nanumba North district of the Northern region, has destroyed more than five hundred houses and displaced hundreds of people.
Authorities were forced to close down six affected basic schools in the area .
According to the District Nadmo Coordinator, Mawindaal Tigananya, the community hospital and police station were also affected.
Minister of Defense, who is also the Member of Parliament for the area Dominic Nitiwul has visited the area to ascertain the situation and to commiserate with the victims. He presented some roofing sheets to the victims and assured them of his support.
