Parliament approves more than GHC 8 billion for Ministry of Health

Parliament has approved budgetary allocation of GHC8,533,590,233 for the Ministry of Health.

Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu moved the motion for the budgetary allocation to be approved.

In a presentation before the approval, Chairman of the Health Committee, Nana Ayew Afriyie noted how major expenses of the Ministry last year were channeled into the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and stressed the need for the house to approve the allocation.

He made some recommendations for the Health Sector.

Ranking member on the Health Committee, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh raised some issues about the state of the country’s teaching hospitals.

He appealed to Government to commit more resources to upgrade these hospitals.

Minister of Health, Mr. Agyemang Manu expressed gratitude to the House for the approval while assuring the House that the monies will be used for their intended purposes.

The House also approved GHC1,599,122,557 for the Ministry of Local Government Decentralization and Rural Development for the year ending 31st December, 2021.
