A heavy downpour at Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region has destroyed many houses and rendered the inhabitants homeless.
Electricity poles, radio station masts, cars, shops, containers, bill boards, among others were also destroyed. Some people too have been rendered homeless.
The MP for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah together with the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) who visited the affected areas and victims consoled the victims and pledged government assistance with some relief items.
The Birim Central Municipal Director of NADMO, David Okyere called on government for immediate intervention for schools especially the Attafuah SHS which has been affected to enable the students to continue their studies.
Some residents also appealed to government for support.
